Product Name Taking Flight
Item Description In 1996, Holocaust Museum Houston launched “The Butterfly Project,” an educational study program designed to teach young people about the experiences of 1.5 million children who perished
during the Holocaust and the lessons to be learned from it even today.

Since that time, 1.5 million handcrafted butterflies from children and adults of all ages have been collected and are now part of one of the most important art exhibits ever: 1.5 million expressions of hope and remembrance submitted from every continent except Antarctica – one even from space. The memory of the children who died and the loss of their talents and possibilities is felt in the grace and beauty seen in each of the butterflies submitted for our Museum’s 20th Anniversary landmark exhibit. But just as important, they remind us of the challenges we face to create a world without hate.

Buy your own copy of this stunning 224-page hardcover coffee-table photobook containing more than 100 images of the most creative, imaginative and thoughtful butterflies submitted over 20 years from around the world. From intricate stained glass, to concrete, to steel or to the simple drawings of a small child, each tells a special story.
