“The Glass House Exhibition”
Cultural Bridges guests were treated to an unexpected surprise on March 28,
2011, when two Holocaust survivors who credit former Swiss Vice Consul Carl
Lutz with saving their lives got to meet Lutz's daughter and personally thank
her. Agnes Hirschi, daughter of Lutz, the Swiss vice consul in Budapest, Hungary
from 1942 until the end of World War II who helped save thousands of Jews from
deportation to Nazi extermination camps during the Holocaust, was on hand to speak about her father and the “Glass House Exhibition,” which tells the story of
a house that served as a safe haven in 1944 for thousands of people.
