Holocaust Museum Houston invites you to participate in its dynamic curriculum trunk program. These trunks are designed especially for use by elementary school, middle school, high school and college educators to assist in teaching the historical facts relating to the Holocaust as well as the consequences of prejudice and apathy in society.
All trunks are a compilation of multimedia tools including videos, posters, CDs, CD-ROMs, artifact kits, maps, classroom sets of books, lessons plans and student activities. These instructional aids have proven to be on the cutting edge of teaching social consciousness, thus making students aware of personal responsibility and moral courage. The integrity of the trunks will be maintained at all times and new materials introduced as needed.
With a curriculum developed by Dr. Errol Putman of Geneseo College, the Elementary School trunks are designed to be age-sensitive and teach prejudice awareness without going into the horrors of the Holocaust.
The Middle School trunks and High School Social Studies trunks are designed to teach the historical aspects of the Holocaust from age-sensitive materials, while the Language Arts and Advanced Placement Language Arts trunks are designed to give high school and college-level teachers materials related to the Holocaust but that fit into the Language Arts curriculum.
We now offer our high school-level materials in Spanish with our new Spanish-language trunks.
Our new Genocide Curriculum trunks are designed to provide a comprehensive curriculum in the instruction of genocide education in middle and high school language arts and social studies classrooms.
To ensure maximum benefit in the use of the trunks, educator training is provided throughout the United States on a continuous basis. Training is provided at all levels of proficiency of Holocaust knowledge. Trunks are shipped nationwide to requesting teachers on a first-come, first-served basis.
